Lapse is an artist-run cultural association that offers physical-temporal spaces for artistic production, research, and  the exchange of knowledge. Founded in 2024 by Lourdes Peñaranda and Maíra das Neves, it focuses on contemporary creation from non-hegemonic perspectives.

Lapse has a studio-workshop space for production and experimentation in contemporary art. It has 4 studio spaces: three for long term resident artists, and one for our residency program, ILLAPSE.

ILLAPSE is an art residency program that offers time and context for research and project development.

The associated artists of Lapse often organize events and offer  workshops and activities in our premises.

To become a member or learn more about Lapse's activities, please contact us.

Lapse is divided into 4 independent working spaces.

Currently, Lapse is a cultural initiative in residence at Fabra i Coats, from where it promotes public-facing activities and collaborates with an expanding network of artists and thinkers.

Lapse
is a space for contemporary art and critical thought. As an artist association, we categorically reject any form of violence, militarism, hate-based ideologies, or affiliation with discriminatory groups or practices. We are committed to maintaining an environment where artists and collaborators operate free from coercion, exclusion, or intimidation. Lapse does not tolerate rhetoric or actions rooted in racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any form of systemic oppression. These are not artistic positions — they are violations of the basic conditions for dialogue and integrity. All members, collaborators, and guests are expected to uphold and comply with these principles at all times.
